I'd ask if everyone's gonna have the same reaction to chiblocking, but it's not like anyone in our time liked it much, either. [ benders, man. ]

We've both had chiblocking used on us before, so...he just doesn't have the best impression of it. Nothing against you.

It'd lock up their limbs still, silly! It's not like the entire thing is about stopping bending. Works just as well on non-benders.

Eh. He didn't believe me about who I was 'till I offered to chiblock him to prove it, and asked me if I stole my Kyoshi gear 'cause I'm fire nation. The usual sort of new person talk, I guess, although no one else has accused me of the stealing part.

He mentioned Amon and you and stuff but nothing super descriptive.

Oh...I didn't know that. [The more you know??] Whenever I got chi-blocked, I could still move after, I just couldn't use my bending. Still hurt a lot, though.

[Korra gives a soft huff of amusement.]

He's a cop now. He's probably just being careful. [A pause.] Mako can be...kind of hard to get along with at first, but you can trust him. I thought he was a total jerk when I first met him, and now? He's one of my best friends back home.

Well, yeah. When people are chiblocking you, they're aiming for different pressure points. But like, if you fight...say, Sokka. [ HER FAVORITE EXAMPLE Ty Lee stop that ] You want to aim for pressure points to disable his actual body, not just disrupt the flow of energy. There's no reason you couldn't be disabled like that, really. It's just more effective to like, block the chi, 'cause if you miss even one limb or finger or whatever when you focus on the body, the bender can still bend unless you mess up the energy. I've seen a guy earthbend by just moving his head.

[ She actually does seem to know what she's talking about, but since this is her entire fighting style, that might be why. ]

Hey, no worries! He didn't seem like a bad guy, just kinda grumpy like Zuko. [ She likes Zuko, she can handle Mako. ] It's good to have more people from home we can trust around, though.

I guess that makes sense. The Equalists are all about disabling the benders, so they probably just study those pressure points instead of the other ones.

And...yeah. It's great to see everyone. [Korra's voice is soft.] I just wish they didn't have to be here.

Makes me wonder if they bothered to study the other kind, really. Since if you were surprised...

...Yeah, it'd be better if they weren't. But...even though that's the case, a part of me's always hoping Mai'd show up, or something, you know? Or Suki, or the girls. Just to have people I know have my back, always. I feel like that's what we need more than anything, sometimes.

[It's always a struggle, wishing to see people from home that you could rely on, and then realizing they'd have to go through Haven for that to happen.]

Uh...it's kind of a mix of different styles, I guess. I've been trying to get some more non-bending practice in.

[This isn't the first or last time Haven's going to take her bending away when she needs it. She knows this now. There's only one thing she can do to combat it, and it's learning fighting styles that don't involve bending in any way.]

Sure thing. Hand-to-hand's my specialty, even without that. Well, I guess I can teach you to use fans or a sword the way the Kyoshi do, too, but I don't have extras of those, sooooooooo.

You know, I don't think I've ever learned how to use a weapon before. I guess the closest would be the staff I've been practicing with Raleigh.

Oh, uh, I just started learning metalbending. I'm...still figuring out how it works.

Maybe! They're...probably a little hard to find just lying around, haha. Most people don't fight with metal fans.

I don't really know that much about metalbending, anyway. Just what Toph used against us and, like, around me back home.

It's pretty common by my time, but I just never got the chance to learn it until I got here.

Toph was teaching me some of the basics before she...went home.

Well, why not have an Avatar meeting or something? All three of you should have the same bending capabilities, even if you're not all using 'em. And if anyone knows weird bending stuff, it's the three of you.
