Conner just came back to the room. You must've really worn the poor guy out, because he collapsed right into Kon's bed and hasn't gotten up since.

[There's a good few seconds' worth of silence here as Korra chews on her lip guiltily.]

He sort of triggered the Avatar State. [Another split-second pause.] He's okay, though--just tired?

[She has to ask, even if she's still a little uncertain how to feel about Conner pushing her so hard about the anger and emotions issue.]

[Now, here is where Zatanna had to stop and really think for a moment. She had heard about the Avatar State, but she'd never...really gotten into the details of what exactly happened when it was activated. Or seen it for herself.]

Exhausted. Also a little worried that he might have upset you somehow.

He-- [didn't. That's what Korra wants to say. But it isn't entirely true.]

I don't know. Maybe. He just started saying all this stuff while we were sparring. [Sigh.] I need to think...cool off a little.

[Korra can't really imagine staying mad at Conner for long, even if she's not really mad so much as uncertain right now.]

What did he say?

[She knew bringing whatever subject it was might not be the best idea, but she needed to know if she was going to come close to helping.]

He doesn't think I'm dealing with my emotions the right way.

[Even without video, Zatanna can probably imagine the frown as she says this.]

[He's probably right]

[Because that comeback would go over so well.]

I think he sees a lot of himself in your right now, Korra. [...] What I mean is, he's kind of been there before with the whole anger thing. He just wants to help.

He...does? [Another silence.]

I do remember him saying he used to have a lot of trouble when he was younger. Is that what you mean?

Something like that. He didn't always handle it so great back then, either.

He's just worried about you. He doesn't want to see you have to go through the same things he did. They kind of sucked.

[Sorry, Zatanna, Korra's just struggling to admit a few things to herself right now, so the long silences just keep coming.

Finally, she says lowly: ]

It's...easier. To feel the anger.

So who said you're not allowed to get angry?

[Conner, if that's how you phrased it, you did dun goof.]

You can still do that part. But there are better ways then airbending a Superboy around like a Super ragdoll.

[A ragged laugh.]

Hey, it's not my fault he decided to spring it all on me when we were sparring. He was kind of asking for it.

[She pauses.]

I'll call him. Later. I didn't mean to go that hard on him--it was just supposed to be a normal spar.

Knowing the two of you, I have a feeling normal sparring was never really in the cards to begin with.

[Yup, just going to...purposely leave that (completely innocent) sentence vague like that on purpose.]

[That whooshing sound is the innuendo flying right over her head.]

Because of our powers? I guess. We try not to damage the area around us...much

[Innuendo-bending is cheating, Korra. Humph!]

Speaking from personal experience, I can only imagine how well that usually goes over.

Thinking about that poor wall you guys decimated while experimenting with the flying thing?

Bet the hole is left is still there.

Probably. [A soft laugh.

Then, a sigh.]

Oh, hey. Speaking of...there was this one guy in the latest round of new recruits. I think he said his name was Mako? Either way, he said you two were friends and I was just wondering if he ever got around to calling you like I suggested.

You told him to call? Figures that he didn't...

[He was already acting pretty weird when they talked face to face. Knowing him, Korra's guessing he must have decided to just wing it on his own instead of asking her for anything.

Or maybe he'd already gotten whatever information he needed from her when they ran into each other.]

[Wow, Mako. There better be a good excuse for that one.]
