It might be, but she said she wasn't able to leave the convenience store, too. [and Mako definitely knew that it was there at this point.

The lines under his eyes from lack of sleep were enough of a clue.]

So, what, she's trying to send you messages through her crow?

[Korra doesn't think that's much better. What does the girl want with her friends? Occasionally, she glances at Mako, noting the added strain.]

[browbeater]

I don't know. [he shrugs. His tone is a bit exasperated-- he doesn't know that much about her, he can only guess what she's doing.] It looks like it.

[braavado]

[She catches his elbow, frowning a little.]

Hey. We'll figure this out, Mako.

[browbeater]

[he stops and fully glances back at her. It takes a beat for him to work out how he was coming off]

... Sorry, it's been stressful. You're right.

You look tired. [Korra studies his face again, concerned.]

Has the crow been bothering you in the housing area, too?

[browbeater]

No-- I just didn't sleep well last night. [at the very least, he isn't flinching away from her touch or trying to pull away. And nothing he's doing indicates he's really... lying.]

[braavado]

Once we get to the bottom of this, you and Sonia can stop worrying about it.

[Korra lets go of him and starts walking again.]

I guess we'll see if it shows up even if there's someone with you.

[browbeater]

That's what I'm wanting to see... But also showing you what you need to see for when we go after this... whatever. Girl.

The Stores are all...locked up now, but the crow has to be getting in and out of the place somehow.

I wonder if it's coming out of the one in North. You said you saw it around the library last time, right?

[browbeater]

Yeah, I'm thinking we'd start around the convenience store there, and look for an entrance. It has to be over there... I can't think of any place else.

[At least... well, if there's another way, he doesn't know it. And he's relieved to hear Korra agree with him.]

It can't hurt to look. [Though Korra doesn't know if they'll find anything at the Store, she still thinks they should be wary while investigating the area around it, especially if the crow is watching them.]

But if I we do find something, we should wait until we have back up before we go in.

[They might have damaged the Store's defenses last time, but a Store is still a Store.]

I'm thinking of asking Steve to come at least. [He glances back] We had 5 people before... so having much bigger than that seems like a bad idea.

[braavado]

[She thinks of Steve, and the ease with which he'd demonstrated some of the different styles when they met last time.]

He's a good choice. Who else were you thinking of?

[browbeater]

Right now, you, me, Sonia, and Steve are all I've got.

[They could probably go up, but between the four of them... they'd be able to handle most anything. At least, he had every intention of warning Steve and Korra of what he'd seen in the store run.]

[braavado]

That's already four.

[The tunnels around them get a little brighter as they near the exit, and Korra lets go of the fire in her hand once there's enough light to see by.]

Let's see how this goes, and we can figure out if we want to add anyone else afterward.

Alright.

[WELL, LET'S SAY THE TUNNELS ARE PRETTY UNEVENTFUL. Mako and Korra kick so much monster butt in them that getting to the other side is easy breezy-- or relatively so. But when they get to the edge, Mako starts scanning the skyline before pointing.

Up in the corner of the building is a crow. Just watching.]

Right there. [asshole.]

[Korra follows his gaze and scowls when she spies the crow. Her hands clench at her sides.]

What do you think we should do? Try to catch up to it?

[As long as she and Mako didn't try attacking the thing, then it should be fine, right?]
