...yeah, actually. A lot better.

[Korra smiles, still a little sheepish, but clearly much happier than she'd been in a while.]

Even if he hadn't kissed me, I'd still be relieved knowing he's okay.

But the kiss helped.

[This time, it was more a statement than question. She had been there, after all. and she'd talked to Conner just before.]

Is this a good time to mention the part where I told you so?

[Korra lifts her chin a little, the start of a pout on her lips.]

But...I can admit it. You were right.

Me being right this time is a good thing, remember? You're getting a boyfriend out of the deal, after all.

[That word makes her cheeks flush a little, but she just smiles.]

Yeah...I guess I am.

[Korra sits down at the edge of Wan's bed, feet pulled up and crossed under her.]

I already talked to Kal earlier about that.

[Believe it or not, Zatanna knew the feeling. Quite well. Her only relationship was still new too.]

Yeah? How'd that go?

Kal's pretty chill, and I'm sure Kon probably let something slip at some point--[Also he had kind of been there when it happened]--so I can't imagine he was all that surprised.

Not too badly. [Korra smiles up at Zatanna.]

He just wanted to know if we're dating, if we talked about all that. [Korra's smile turns a little teasing.] Apparently he just wanted to make sure, after you and Kon confused him with the "friends with benefits" thing.

I think he felt a little out of loop, though.

In our defense, the only reason we confused him was because Kon neither confirmed nor denied the sex part. Which I tried to set straight once I heard.

After that, he seemed pretty cool with it.

[Korra laughs, leaning forward on her elbows.]

He asked me to look after Conner. [She's caught between looking pleased and embarrassed.] Is this usually how the talk with your boyfriend's dad goes?

[Because she wouldn't know.]

I'm kind of in the same boat as you--it's only ever been Kal. Though I will say it was a step up from the last time he tried to give the three of us a Talk.

Kal tried to give you guys a...talk? What kind of talk?

He nearly killed Kon through asphyxiation from laughing so hard.

[Yeah, Korra's not sure what exactly happened there, but...now she's getting the feeling it would kind of go right over her head.

She scratches at her cheek awkwardly.]

I guess Conner and Kon are off the hook...I mean, you have Kal, but neither of my parents are here.

[There was also the part where it had actually been her and Conner being given the Talk. Completely unwarranted, of course, but still.]

That would've been a sight to see. Kon having to deal with my dad.

I'm not sure he would've survived.

[A part of her would like to have seen Kon face Zee's dad.]

He was...well, let me put it this way: I once got grounded for life for saving the world without his permission.

[Of course there was more to the story than that, but from her perspective, it was all completely over the top and exaggerated.]

But you saved the world! He should've gone easier on you.

I won him over eventually. It only took until Halloween.

[Which she proceeded to repay him for by ditching the school dance she'd told him she was going to to ride around Gotham on a motorcycle with Artemis, nearly get blown up twice in one night, kidnapped, and make friends with a ghost. Good times.]

What's...Halloween?

[How should she go about answering that one? National Dress up day? Free Pass for Begging for Candy from Strangers? End of October?]

It's a holiday that takes place in the fall.

Oh! A holiday? [Korra looks curious. Now that it’s come up, has she ever asked anyone about the holidays in their world? Not that she remembers.]

What kind of holiday is it?

That depends on who you ask. Different cultures celebrate it differently....but where we come from, it's an excuse to dress up for a night in crazy costumes. Young kids go trick or treating, older kids go with them for the free candy.

[With each explanation, Korra just looks more and more confused.]

Wait. You mean, you get candy for wearing crazy costumes?

[She can imagine Tenzin's kids going nuts over this holiday, if they had it in their world.]
