[Korra smiles at Zatanna weakly, and holds her arms out like "tada".]

I know he didn't; Kon was pretty upset when I talked to him about it.

[Admittedly, with the initial suspicion that Kon had known something as well, and not come to her. Her feelings upon being proven wrong were highly mixed.]

...I'm sure Conner'll be happy to know you want to look after him. Heck, if I wasn't already living here, I might've considered moving in, too.

[Korra winches, remembering how furious Kon had been.]

Yeah--Kon was. Really upset about being left out of the plan, too.

[She leans against the bedframe.]

Well, since we're both here now. I guess we can split up the "superboy watch" duties.

So I noticed. Ironically, he said it was Conner that calmed him down. Kicked puppy dog in the rain eyes won him over. Again.

How did you want to do this? I'll take afternoons and evenings, you take nights and early mornings?

[Korra manages a smile.] Yeah, he didn't seem to calm down until Conner gave him the look. At least we know everyone's doing all they can to figure this thing out.

[Briefly, she wonders if the kicked puppy look would be just as effective on her...]

That sounds fine. I'm actually helping Kal with something right now, so...I'll be around at night.

Uh--wait. Why would you need to sleep on the couch? There's enough room in here for everyone.

[That seems to be all she can manage, with her burning face hidden in her hands.]

[Come on, Korra. It's just the two of them. Alone. In their room, without the boys. Nobody around to eavesdrop. There really was no better opportunity.]

Come on, just admit it. [She rose to her feet, biting back a laugh as she came up and loosely wrapped her arms around Korra's shoulders, resting her chin against them.] Wouldn't you just love the chance to cozy up to him like this? Feel those big, strong arms wrapped around you?

...or, hey, your big, strong arms wrapped around him. [Because dayum, girl, you're like all muscle there.]

[Zee, you're killing her here. She doesn't bother moving her hands away from her face because she can feel her cheeks getting even hotter (just when she thought that wasn't possible).]

I don't--- [The words are a bit muffled.] We haven't even talked about anything yet.

[She could practically feel the heat radiating from her cheeks at this proximity.]

You should. Now's as good a time as any.

[She sighs, and finally drops her hands, though her face is still red.]

I don't want to add to all the stress he's feeling right now. And we should focus on finding a way to break the contract, shouldn't we?

[And what if we don't? The thought was in the forefront of her mind. They'd had sixteen weeks. Gone so far as to attempt to summon another demon. Conner even went to the Network himself, asking for help.]

You might be surprised how much of a stress reliever being with someone you care about that much can be. It takes your mind off things, if only for a moment.

[Korra twists her hands together nervously.]

I--I know. It's why I'm here and...I decided I wouldn't really try to hide how I felt or anything. I'm here if he needs me.

I just...don't want to make things really complicated right now. I made a mess of things back in my world before. I don't really want to do that again.

[She lifted her head from Korra's shoulder, though her arms remained loosely wrapped around her.]

How would it be complicated?

You like him, and he likes you. You're both unattached...it really doesn't get much simpler than that.

[Korra clams up, thinking Haven makes everything complicated.. She shakes her head.]

There's just too much going on. [She looks away, not meeting Zatanna's eyes.] Sorry...I must sound like such a ...a downer or something.

...but I get it. I mean, I still think you're wasting the present by worrying about what might happen in the future. But I get why you're worried.

[Feeling like anything she's going to say is just going to make things worse, Korra leans back against Zatanna for a little while, quiet. Part of her does wish she could just jump in like she would've months ago.

But that was before Haven.]

I should...probably go and meet up with Kal. [They haven't checked on the clones for a few hours now, and Korra worries that something might happen to them while they're away.] But I'll be back soon.

[Zatann let her lean, pressing the smallest amount of her own body weight in return.]
