[She appears to think about this, unintentionally recording herself tilting her head to the side and closing her eyes in thought for a second.

I dunno...

Then her eyes are open again, and she's making a sort of see-saw motion with her hand.

So-so. It could be worse?]

[oh, whew. He looks relieved and gives her a thumbs up.

This was creative conversation... or something. But asking more complicated questions? Now that... that was hard.

He smooshes his hair down-- it's clear he's asking about Conner, or trying to be. (Jealousy pang #1 of the day)

And then repeats the same motion.]

[It takes her a second, eyes lighting up with a bit of amusement when she figures out what--or who, in this case--he's trying to say with the hair thing, and then her expression falls.

She shakes her head.

Not so good.]

[he shakes his head.

That's no good.

But, admittedly he wasn't sure what he could say after that.]

[She's just about to think of some way to get her message through with gesturing when

it clicks.

Why are they even talking like this when they can just meet up???

Korra cover her face with a hand briefly, then points to herself, then at him through the screen. It's followed by a vague gesture at the apartment as a whole.

Should I go to you?]

[oh yeah. Duh. He nods-- his room is empty. Manji's somewhere else, and Riley had left for 'camping.' Whatever that meant.]

[He'll get a brief video of her leaving the apartment and shutting the door behind her before it ends.

Aaand about ten minutes later, the door to block 29 will swing open as Korra walks in.]

Hey.

[he sets the phone aside, having given up on trying to make it work for the moment. Especially while she was there.]

Guess the phone lines are getting worse.

[braavado]

You think? [Just a little sarcastic.]

I'm starting to think we should just skip them while they're like this. It's not like we can understand what we're trying to say anyway. [Korra pauses, then grins.] Except when we're gesturing at each other.

[browbeater]

Iiiiii think we should stick to our dayjob.

[he stands up, his hands in his pockets, and he approaches her]

So... no good suggestions, huh?

[braavado]

Not yet...but we're going to keep looking.

[Giving up just isn't an option.]
