[Korra lifts her chin a little, the start of a pout on her lips.]

[Apparently, they're both on the same train of thought.]

Zuko's not going to be happy to see him. Aang either. I mean, Aang just ended the war.

[Korra grimaces.] He can still fire bend. I saw him.

[He nods. As long as you understand this is important. And with that, Haru turns his gaze back to the well. He's not sure if there's anything else to ask her, but the water will help him think some.]

[There's a pause.]

Oh. [Sounding kind of surprised here.] Uh, thanks?

[Korra bites her lip. Whoops. She probably should've guessed that Sonia would be able to figure it out. She did almost blurt his name out.]

Yeah, Mako. It's...kind of a touchy subject for him, though, so you probably shouldn't mention it around him.

[Now she relaxes, a smile lighting up her face.]

I tried to ignore it, and then...all this happened. Someone else told me I should just go for it and take whatever good thing I could get here. It might be selfish, but...the way he died this time really scared me. I didn't know if he was going to come back or not.

I will keep it quiet. [ That's easy enough to promise quickly.

Sonia's own smile changes. It's still present, and mostly genuine, but there's something behind it, and in her eyes, that seems a little off. Maybe sad. ]

They were correct. Even if it is a selfish wish...you never know how much time you will have with people. You should grasp tightly to every second you are given, and not let concerns about the situation get in the way. Or you would regret it, for so long as you lived after, I think.

You should live in a way where you will never have those sorts of regrets. So...I will be wishing you both all the best.

[That word makes her cheeks flush a little, but she just smiles.]

Yeah...I guess I am.

[Korra sits down at the edge of Wan's bed, feet pulled up and crossed under her.]

I already talked to Kal earlier about that.

[braavado]

[Don't strain yourself there, kiddo. Korra watches him, hip leaning against the well.]

If that's all, you don't have to stick around and pretend you want to talk about other stuff, you know.

[Korra reaches for Sonia's hands, curling her hands around them with a smile of quiet gratitude.]

Thank you. I'm--still trying to get used to the idea, but I'm going to fight to keep it. Not just what I have with Conner, but my friendships with everyone here, like you.

[He looks at her for a moment, then back at the well.]

...The water helps me think.

[And he was here first, you know. He shoves his hands in his pockets.] Maybe I'll go to the river.

[Yeah, you thought you escaped that, didn't you?]

[Korra just flicks a brow up at him, not following his line of thought.]

Are you telling me because you want me to go with you, orrrrrr...something else?

Do whatever you want.

[He is going to stare at water. Looking at her for a moment, he just lifts his foot and begins to walk past her.]

[Well, that's that.]

I'll just leave you to it. Don't worry about the party, I'll definitely distract him for you.

I guess...I'll see you then.

[Korra watches his back for a second, then shakes her head and walks off on her own way.]

[Believe it or not, Zatanna knew the feeling. Quite well. Her only relationship was still new too.]

Yeah? How'd that go?

Kal's pretty chill, and I'm sure Kon probably let something slip at some point--[Also he had kind of been there when it happened]--so I can't imagine he was all that surprised.

Not too badly. [Korra smiles up at Zatanna.]

He just wanted to know if we're dating, if we talked about all that. [Korra's smile turns a little teasing.] Apparently he just wanted to make sure, after you and Kon confused him with the "friends with benefits" thing.

I think he felt a little out of loop, though.

In our defense, the only reason we confused him was because Kon neither confirmed nor denied the sex part. Which I tried to set straight once I heard.

After that, he seemed pretty cool with it.

[Korra laughs, leaning forward on her elbows.]

He asked me to look after Conner. [She's caught between looking pleased and embarrassed.] Is this usually how the talk with your boyfriend's dad goes?

[Because she wouldn't know.]

I'm kind of in the same boat as you--it's only ever been Kal. Though I will say it was a step up from the last time he tried to give the three of us a Talk.

He nearly killed Kon through asphyxiation from laughing so hard.
